Coman has something to prove

Mississippi State safety signee Kivon Coman visited several of the Bulldogs practices this spring and saw an opportunity.

MSU graduated both starters from last season and another safety was sidelined with an Achilles injury. Those losses have created an opportunity for Coman to play his way onto the field this fall as a freshman.

"That motivates me," Coman said. "I know what I'm getting myself into and it motivates me to work even harder. I know what's in front of me and when I want something bad enough I go out and find the best way to get it and that's what I'm doing.

"I've got something to prove and I'm trying to improve the best way that I can. I'm working out and running a lot and getting in good shape. I'm trying not to redshirt. I want to play early and they told me I could play early and that's what my goal is for right now."

The 6-foot-1 native of Florence, Ala., has been following the workout regimen send to him by MSU strength coach Matt Balis and is already seeing the fruits of his labor.
