Stats and comments: Jason has shown tremendous ability to make the big play on offense and defense. He earned All-State last year and once scored four TDs in one game four different ways.2,690 career rushing yards, 44 TDs. Had 1,200 yards on 219 carries and scored 20 touchdowns. Plans to enroll at a college in January. Very mature.
No. 2: JEFFREY ALLEN, HUFFMAN (Birmingham)

Stats and comments: Jeffrey may be the biggest surprise of the Class of 2002. A devastating blocker who may be the strongest player in the state, he wears a size 18 shoe. Look for his stock to rise like the August heat. He reminds scouts who have evaluated him of former Crimson Tide blocker Chris Samuels and Tennessee lineman James Poole.
No. 3: BENJAMIN OBOMANU, SELMA
Positions played: Wide receiver, free safety, kick return specialist.
Height: 6-2 1/2.
Weight: 182 pounds.

Academic status: 4.3 GPA and 26 on the ACT test. He will graduate next spring as valedictorian of his senior class.
Schools interested: You name them. Theyre all interested . He lists at the top of the heap Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida and LSU.

Stats and comments: Ben may be the only prospect in the state whose 40 time is lower than his GPA. Hes the complete package and has opened a lot of eyes with several outstanding camps. His three-year totals at Selma include 66 pass receptions, 1,633 receiving yards and 16 TDs. He also had 14 touchdowns (7 each) on kickoff and punt returns. He has seven career picks on defense. He also plays basketball, baseball and runs track. Look for him to commit early after the season ends.

Academic status: 3.8 GPA and 24 on the ACT test.

Stats and comments: The left-hander passed for 2,530 yards last season and 23 TDs with a completion rate over 60 percent. He had a great passing performance at Auburns passing camp this past summer. Hes also a baseball prospect at pitcher much like former Hewitt QB Jason Standridge, who debuted in the majors with Tampa Bay Devil Rays August 9. Brandon is a natural leader and considered the top QB prospect in the state.
No. 5: CHRIS HARRIS, CENTRAL-TUSCALOOSA

Stats and comments: Chris can run, really run. He has a long reach as shown by his 16 sacks last season. His dad played at Jackson State. His mom is related to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Chris could be the best defensive player in the state.

Stats and comments: The cousin of former FSU and NFL star Lawrence Dawsey has many of the same pass-catching traits of his famous relative. He had five interceptions on defense last year and averaged close to 30 yards a catch. Look for him to be a big catch for some Division I-A school. Hes also a college prospect in basketball.

Stats and comments: A big, lean kid who can run, Browder is cut from the same kind of mold as former UA linebacking greats. Chris set a school record for sacks last season (18). He impressed college recruiters at several camps this past summer. Also is a standout in basketball.

Stats and comments: Montae is nicknamed "Show Time" for good reason. He plays quarterback, running back, receiver, defensive back, kick returner and sometimes kicks for the Indians. He committed early to Virginia Tech, but he had a great time (4.2) in a combine a few weeks later which has brought a ton of schools seeking his talents. Look for him to stay close to home in the end. Also plays basketball, baseball and runs track.

Stats and comments: The best prospect in the Class of 2002 from Huntsville, Darby has great speed and is extremely strong for a tailback. He was chosen All-City MVP last season in Huntsville. He is a cousin of former Alabama lineman Shawn Draper.

Stats and comments: Clark is a big pass rusher who could also play noseguard or DT. Hell experiment at TE this season. He comes from a winning program that has produced Kenny King, and plays for a coach who also coached Terrell Owens and Cornelius Bennett.

Stats and comments: Tommy is one of the hardest working prospects in the Alabama Class of 2002. Also a wrestler and member of the Opelika track team, he has great quickness for his size and is one of the strongest linemen in the state. If his home street is any indication, he could be Auburn bound. He lives on Toomer Circle.
No. 13: TITUS RYAN, TUSCALOOSA COUNTY (Northport)

Stats and comments: Titus is playing high school football for just his second year. He is the fastest player in the state after finishing second in the 6A outdoor track meet last year in the 100 and 200 sprints. Hes electrifying and will be even better once he learns more about the game.

Stats and comments: Dan returned three kickoffs for touchdowns last season including a 99-yarder to open the game in the Rebels 34-31 win over 6A champ Hoover. He also rushed for almost 1,500 yards. His dad Ken played at Auburn as did an uncle, Tommy Lorino. Dan is a hard runner who can be punishing as well as fast. He won the state 189-pound wrestling championship and started as a sophomore on Vestavia Hills 2000 state 6A baseball championship team.

Stats and comments: Dont let his 40 time fool you. Christopher is a receiver who can catch the ball in traffic and is always one step ahead of those chasing him. He set an AHSAA record last season with 17 catches for 412 yards and four TDs in a 38-37 win over Alabama Christian.

Also considered a D-I basketball prospect at power forward, he has just gotten cleared by doctors after suffering a debilitating car accident in April which left him banged up and with several stitches to his forehead. Look for Terrance to be a great college player. He will continue to grow. His dad is 6-9.

Stats and comments: Kevins best days are ahead of him. Still overcoming the loss of his father (last year), he is just beginning to tap into his potential. With long arms and quick feet, he is the perfect prospect for left offensive tackle. Look for him to blossom in college once he hits the weight room with a vengeance. Has a twin brother Kerry (6-7, 221) who is also a prospect.
