Marlon Humphrey impressive in jamboree

Marlon Humphrey, cornerback from Hoover High School in Ala., is one of the premier class of 2014 prospects in the country. He had a great performance in Hoover's jamboree game Thursday night against Florence. He had a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown and several tackles in less than two quarters.

"It felt pretty good to score," said Humphrey. "I came up to make the tackle. The guy tipped it, and I took it from there. The ball kind of hit me. I was shocked a little.
"It felt good to get back out here and hit someone. I had a couple of hits and tackles. It was good. The first hit felt great. It got my anxiety up. It was a great feeling.
"This team is going to be really good this year. We are going to be good especially on defense and in the secondary. Our linebackers are great. We have depth there. Our defensive line is going. Our offense always comes through."
Hoover will open their season a week from Friday against South Panola High School in Batesville, Miss. The Bucs defeated the Magnolia State powerhouse last year in Hoover.
Humphrey has placed recruiting on the backburner at this time. He plans to attendi several SEC games in the fall.
